RBW Genetik GmbH is a bovine semen sorting lab that is using the only laser ablation semen sorting technology available in the world, patented by IntelliGen Technologies

It is very good known that in the cattle, the sperm cells bearing the X Chromosome have approx. 3.8% more DNA than the sperm cells bearing the Y Chromosome. Based on this knowledge IntelliGen has developed a sorting method based on deactivating the undesired sperm cells.

The gender detection laser detects each sperm cell passing throw a channel and the incapacitation laser is ablating the undesired cells.

To avoid putting unnecessary stress on the desired cells the deactivated unwanted sperm cells are intentionally left in the final product. Each straw produced using the IntelliGen Technology contains both live viable sperm cells and sperm cells fragment from the unwanted cells.

 Quality control

All batches produced in our lab are tested following rigorous assays that allow accurate quantification of viable sperm cells to measure the post thaw insemination dose and sex skew.
